If you caught the bleep techno reference in the title, congratulations, my friend: you’re old enough to either remember the 12″ or the Warp Records comp it showed up on some nine years later. Right now, we’ve got two new honorable mentions to pass along to you:
Hunter/Game, an Italian duo made up of Emmanuele Nicosia and Martino Bertola had been recording a firestorm of killer releases for Sasha’s label and as of late have moved over to the institution that is Kompakt. They did two spectacular 12″s for their Speicher series this year (‘Adaptation’ is definitely still on rotate in this DJ’s box) and now they get set to drop a debut full-length for them this coming February. Frankyeffe is Italian maestro Francesco Fava who hails from the Ariccia area of Rome and his debut album for Riot landed on the 9th as a digital download which, at 16 cuts, had to be split up into two CDRs for this jock (thank you, PullProxy – I will cane this on the UNF radio show).
The actual vinyl and CD releases won’t hit until next month and according to Juno, it looks like the vinyl is coming out in parts. I would best describe this album as Inner City synth-stabs meets Nachtstrom Schallplatten by way of Robert Hood. Sound good? It is. Even Alan Fitzpatrick is hammering ‘My Beat’ of which I provided a full YouTube link at the bottom. Sleep on this at your own peril. But you don’t have to take my word for it…
