The Black Dog @ The Boys’ Pet Shop

The Black Dog, electronic dance music’s underground answer for well over 20 years, has continually stepped up their techno game in the last half decade to now bring you a trio of hard-floored techno 12″s. ‘The Return Ov Bleep’ a sort-of continuation of last year’s ‘Liber Kult’ album project is an EP of stormin’ quality, which was followed two weeks later by the ‘Darkhaus Vol. 1’ 12″ containing the fantastic ‘Council Flat Emptiness’. Now, this week, they bring a double-whammy: ‘Darkhaus Vol. 2’ 12″ (with a dope Regis Remix) and this brand new mix from FACT highlighting some of the better moments in the Warp Records catalog. Enjoy!

Also, you may now know that EDM pioneers’ Pet Shop Boys have left the Parlophone label after 28 years. Their last LP ‘Elysium’ (which came out late summer 2012) was considered lukewarm by some but the 3 singles were quite popular in the clubs, where it matters. Their latest, ‘Memory Of The Future’, hit #1 on The Billboard Club Play chart in January – no doubt due to that Digital Dog effort – while the Ulrich Schnauss Remix appeared on my ‘Below Ground’ mix.

Now, PSB are seriously upping their club game with another brand new album, ‘Electric’, released 07.15.13 on Kobalt (a new international label venture signing some huge worldwide acts) and this promo video for ‘Axis’ is sure to set the bar high as hell. Please check it out. This almost sounds like it could be ‘Disco 5’ which I’d believe this started life as. You can pre-order the new LP/CD here and the pre-sale tix are ready to go. The tour is hitting Florida in September and they’ve already kicked things off in South America, where they enjoy a HUGE fanbase.

And for the true underground sound of German techno, I bring you this gem from Nachtstrom Schallplatten:
